Dr Desmond Teo Yen Koon: International American University

Dr. Desmond Teo Yen Koon was conferred the Honorary Doctorate from International American University (IAU) and is also the Honorary Advisor to the University. He has contributed extensively to the development of the university.

In 2000, a group of professionals including Dr Desmond Teo Yen Koon started a business consulting company, focusing on training today’s leaders to be super leaders through team building, activity-based consulting. They enabled individuals to move beyond their comfort zone and achieve real performance improvement. They decided to transfer their knowledge of business management to the classroom.


Eventually, MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA, INC. was incorporated in the State of California in 2005 and MIA sought CA State approval as a formalized institution of higher learning in 2006, focusing on what it knew best – business. In late 2006, MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA, INC. legally changed its name to INTERNATIONAL AMERICAN UNIVERSITY, INC., with its emphasis on international business education. IAU’s offerings include an Associate, a Bachelor, two Masters, and a professional Doctorate degree program. By focusing on business education, IAU can ensure a concentrated faculty body, specialized curriculum, and rich student- faculty interaction.

IAU’s faculties are business professionals like Dr Desmond Teo Yen Koon who have made an impact on developing organizations to go from “good to great”. The school’s curriculum was a matter of harnessing current business and organizing it to fit in a classroom format.
